‘Fifty Shades of Grey': Counting Down the Records the Erotic Romance Broke

Fifty Shades of Grey” torched record books this weekend, debuting to a white hot $81.7 million domestically and $239.7 million globally.
By introducing moviegoers to little explored sections of the Kama Sutra, Universal Pictures’ erotic romance became the highest-grossing Presidents Day Weekend opener. It also established new benchmarks for R-rated fare.
Not shabby for a film that cost $40 million to produce before factoring in promotional and distribution costs. Sam Taylor-Johnson directed the film with Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson assuming the lead roles. Sequels to the picture have yet to earn a greenlight, but given the results, that appears to be a formality.
Here’s a look at some of the records that got incinerated thanks to Christian Grey’s smoldering glare.
  • Biggest Presidents Day Weekend Opener
(Previous record holder was “Valentine’s Day” with $56.3 Million)
  • Second Highest Grossing Debut for a Film by a Female Director
(Current record holder is “The Matrix Reloaded” from Lana Wachowski)
  • Highest Number of Playdates for an R-rated Opening with 3,646 locations
(Previous record holder was “The Hangover Part II” with 3,615)
  • Biggest Single-Day February Gross with Saturday’s $36.7 Million Haul
(Previous record holder was “Passion of the Christ” with $33.1 million)
  • Second Biggest February Debut
(Record holder remains “The Passion of the Christ” with its $83.9 million opening)
  • Fourth Biggest R-Rated Opening
(Record holders are “The Matrix Reloaded with $91.8 million, “The Hangover Part II” with $85.9 million and “The Passion of the Christ” with $83.9 million)
  • Universal’s Second Biggest International Box Office Debut with $158 million
(Record holder is “Fast & Furious 6″ with $160.3 million)
  • Biggest R-Rated Opening Internationally

“It was so cringe-worthy. The whole thing was cringe-worthy,”

Drake is probably use to getting pretty much any girl he wants, but apparently Drizzy can’t get one of the biggest porn stars in the world. Mia Khalifa is one of the top porn stars out there and she is claiming Drake sent her a half naked picture of himself, but she was not feeling it at all.
According to Khalifa, the photo Drake sent her was “cringe-worthy.”

Style Collective, Skin Types Top ImageWe're not alone in our never-ending pursuit to tame our skin issues. Even celebrities like Renée Zellweger, Brad Pitt and Cameron Diaz have been known to suffer from problematic skin such as acne or rosacea. Working toward better skin doesn't have to turn your life upside down, but small changes here and there might have positive effects on your skin concerns.

Oily skin: Be super gentle to your skin. Try to avoid irritating oily skin by using natural, gentle products. Eating plenty of leafy greens and green juicing may help to reduce inflammation in your body and keep breakouts and skin flare-ups to a minimum. Try a gentle and safe cleanser that avoids harsh chemicals in its ingredients. Also, try limiting the use of heavy makeup and sunscreen.
To calm redness: Try eating a diet low in starch and gluten. Some studies suggest that rosacea and redness in the skin can be caused by diet. Cutting an excess amount of sugar, alcohol and caffeine from your diet can also help to significantly reduce redness. A diet full of leafy greens, fresh veggies and anti-inflammatory foods like cinnamon, curry powder and turmeric are also beneficial in helping to calm redness.
Always talk to your derm or doctor about your skin and be open and clear with them about the results you want to see! You are beautiful, from the inside-out!

Normal skin: Drink eight-10 glasses of water daily; hydration is key in maintaining a gorgeous complexion. Also, snacking on raw, unsalted almonds will give you a vitamin E boost and may help to keep your skin healthy and glowing! Green juices that are low in sugar can also help to reduce inflammation in the skin, keep you hydrated and your skin vibrant.
Dry skin: Foods full of omega-3 fatty acids are a great choice for you. Foods like delicious wild salmon, olive oil, flax seed meal, chia seeds, avocados and even fish oil supplements are fabulous for that gorgeous face! Remember to also use a high-quality moisturizer, wash with lukewarm water and gently exfoliate as needed. I love using a natural mask using mashed avocado and Greek yogurt when I need some serious hydration!
