Gunmen storm UNILAG, shoot student

LAGOS — Tragedy struck at the University of Lagos, UNILAG, on Monday as an undergraduate of the institution was shot in the head by some gunmen.

Vanguard gathered that the victim, known simply as Sapara, was found lying on his face at King Jaja Hall of the university by fellow students in the pool of his blood early Monday morning.

The student, who is in the Department of Philosophy, was rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Idi-Araba.

Our source indicated that attempts to track down the suspected gunmen failed.
Sapara, according to the institution’s Dean, Students’ Affairs, Professor Olukayode Amund, was responding to treatment in the hospital.

He also confirmed the shooting but said the root cause of the attack was yet to be unraveled.
